Is It Safe To Take Effexor For Long Time? Does It Cause Inflammation In TI? Have Rectal Bleeding From Ischiorectal Abscess And Fistula

Hi, I'm trying to find out if it is possible that taking effexor xr for years could possibly have caused the inflammation in my TI that was seen on my recent colonoscopy. I'm seeing a GI specialist in the morning but I"m just curious. I also experience a fair amount of rectal bleeding (usually after going for a walk). I also have a history (last 5 years) of ischiorectal abscesses and fistula. Too much info I know :) I'm more of less trying to figure out why the inflammation of my Terminal ileum showed up now and not 5 years ago when the other stuff started and whether or not effexor may have played a role in any of it.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Effexor is unlikely to be responsible for this...it is safe in long term...

Involvement of ileum is a part of the original problem - You have not given the diagnosis... Crohns? Ulcerative Colitis? You have not stated your personal habits, family history or co-morbidities, even age, gender...which could have an influence on the diagnosis and outcome... Not all the features will occur in a given individual; not all at the same time...
The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
