Remember one thing that, the rate of congenital malformations appears to be associated with the severity of maternal diabetes rather than the use of insulin.
Insulin is the drug of choice for the treatment of diabetes during pregnancy. Increased incidence of teratogenicity associated with diabetes mellitus; the association with the use of insulin is probably coincidental.
Because of the strong association between diabetes and perinatal morbidity and multiple congenital malformations, it is recommended to strict control of maternal plasma glucose with the use of insulin during pregnancy.
You may need to take insulin to keep your blood sugar in a target range. Keeping your blood sugar in a target range is the best way to prevent problems from gestational diabetes
Usually, gestational diabetes goes away after your baby is born. Then you no longer need insulin.
So do not worry so much. Just follow your doctor's advice.
All the best. Take care.
