Is It Safe To Take 'telekast-1' For Long Duration In Case Of Cough?

Hai sir, suffering with cough and wheezing since from last three months back, telekast-l tablet 10 mg prescribed for me daily once, for 1 month ,after stopping the tablet, cough persists so iam taking same tablet whether it is safe for long duration. please guide what to do

I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion, you are mostly having asthma or allergic bronchitis.
Wheezing with coughing are seen in these diseases.
Telekast L is having montelukast (anti allergic) and levocetrizine (antihistamine). Your cough is improved with telekast L, this also favours asthma or allergic bronchitis more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test)
PFT is must for the diagnosis of asthma or bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
You may also need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS),along with telekast L.
And no need to worry for long term use as these drugs are safe for long term use. No major side effects are seen.
These will help you more in relieving cough and wheezing.
