Is Nausea, Weight Loss And Vomiting Normal After A Quadruple Heart Bypass ?
My octogenarian dad had quadruple heart bypass on May 19. He has no pain, but has lost about 20 pounds from having nausea and vomiting. Is this normal. He was still working full time and in good physical condition. He is self-employed track hoe owner and operator. Thank you. Melanie

hi post cardiac bypass surgery, these symptoms are more unlikely until he is suffering from acute cardiac problems once again especially graft block or failure, wherin this presents with sudden hypotension nausea, vomiting, decreased effort tolerance,chest-pain,breathlessness, etc. the cardiac medications, especially aspirin can cause gastritis but by this time this should have adjusted to his body, weight loss is unlikely with this. if he is still working that shows he has good effort tolerance. i suggest you to take a consultation with the gastro-enterologist, to rule out any gasro-intestinal or liver/pancreatic related problems. all the best take care
