Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had IUI on Friday and was a little sore after but no problems. Then starting on Sunday I was to use progesterone suppository twice a day since I started that I have had pain bilaterally in the groin area and in lower back. Is this normal or a side effect of prostrgrone?
Progesterone can cause abdominal cramps or pain as a side effect. It usually subsides in most patients in the next following days.
Any history of fever, burning urination or renal stones should be ruled out.
Antispasmodics can be taken to reduce the discomfort. Incase of persistent pain,it is essential to visit your gynaecologist and a pelvic ultrasound may be essential.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards Dr.Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
