Is Pain Post A Bone Graft & R Hip Surgery Common To Occur?

I had plates and pins put on both my ulna and radius after a fracture 16 years ago. I ended up having 2 surgeries including a bone graft from my R hip. I am now experiencing pain and swelling over the plate site and wonder if this is to be expected. My plates are steel, not titanium, but because I am a nursing student I do not have insurance to cover removal.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of a local infection. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam, an X ray of the plates and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR) for inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
