Is Persistent Sore Throat Concerning?

How long should I wait before seeing a doctor about a sore throat? I've had it for a week now. I have no cold symptoms only a cough which I think is caused by the sore throat. I can feel two lumps just under my jaw which are swollen. There is pain on swallowing which gets worse after talking, and opening my mouth too far e.g. yawning also hurts. The only other symptom is a headache. I don't want to bother a doctor if it's likely to clear up, but it feels as if it's getting worse rather than improving.
