Is Rapid Mole Appearance And Growth Normal?

I mole appeared on my upper arm overnight, and it itched. After a few days it is now significantly raised above the skin, still itches and seems to be growing daily, though at a slower rate than when first appeared.

I'm 53 and pretty darn good about skin care though not as a youth. In my 30s I did have some moles on my back removed that I "felt" which turned out to be pre-cancerous.

I can already tell I should probably see a doc to have it checked out but I don't have the funds to see a doctor when nothing is overtly wrong. Is rapid mole appearance and growth common. It does look like a mole, I must admit - symetrical, pink, round.
