Is Rigevidon Same As Loestrin Fe And Is It Safe?

Hi, I have been taking Loestrin Fe for many years and it has controlled my hormonal acne quite well. I am traveling this year and ran out of my pills more than a month ago and my hormonal acne has come back with a vengeance. I m not able to find Loestrin (ethinylestadiol) in Vietnam. The closest one I found with that same ingredient also has levonorgestrel in it and has a brand name Rigevidon 21+7. Will this be similar to Loestrin (and help my acne in the same way) and is it safe to take? Thank you!

I understand your concern.
Loestrin Fe contains ethinyl estradiol, norethindrone and ferrous fumarate as ingredients. It is used as contraception to prevent pregnancy.
Rigevidon contains ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel as ingredients. It is used for contraception as combined oral contraceptive pill.
Although norethindrone and levonorgestrel are progestin hormones, their mechanism of action and bioavailability could slightly differ.
Since you are taking the hormonal preparation for acne problem, it would be advisable to consult Dermatologist before the change of medication.
