Is Spots With Red Stringy Blood A Symptom Of Premenopausal?

I had a regular menstrual cycle and then four days later started to spot with red stringy blood. I have also felt bloated and have had diarrhea on occasion. I have never had this happen before (i just turned 49 years old). Wondering if it is related to peri-menopausal or something more serious?

Hi,

As you have turned 49, these may be the symptoms of the perimenopausal syndrome. You need not worry about it there is nothing serious about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
