Is Surgery Required If X-ray Shows Sclerotic Changes In Acetabulum And Sclerotic Sacroiliac Joint?
Yes, thank you! Had x-ray, revealed right hip diffusely. Sclerotic changes noted in roof of the acetabulum. Osteophyte formation at junction of femoral head & femoral neck. Femoral head is irreglar in surface conto ur in medial aspect seen best on AP view. No destructive lesions identified. Nofractures are noted. The iliac side of right sacroiliac joint is midly sclerotic. Joint space is maintained. Mineralization of osseous structures is within normal limits. Would such a conditgion require surgery?
There are degenerative changes that have developed in the hip joint area (acetabulum) with small extra bone growth ( osteophyte) in the upper end of femur. The sclerotic changes in SI joint also indicates degeneration. Surgery is not required. You may need some amount of rest and physiotherapy. If there is joint movement restriction at the hip then a detailed consultation with an orthopedic surgeon is needed.
