Is Taking Aspirin And Lopressor The Reason To Passing Pink Fleshy Chunks Instead Of Stool And Stomchache Prior To Passing Stools?
I regularly take Piroxicam for osteoarthritis pain and inflammation and a 325 mg aspirin due to suffering multiple PE's 3yrs ago. Cardiologist reduce me to 81 mg aspirin yesterday and added Lopressor. I had one dose of each today. Am due for second dose of Lopressor. I am scheduled for heart catherization in 5 days. I am passing pink fleshy chunks instead of stool and prior to each movement my stomach is feeling awful. Is the new combination of drugs doing this after just one day? What should I do?
Your symptoms suggests that the pink looking fleshy chunks may be blood clots unless proven otherwise. Some vegetables/fruits like red watermelon, beets, tomato salad, can give stools a colored appearance. I do not think so it can be side effect of Lopressor but Asprin can cause bleeding. In any case, I suggest you to get a stool examination done and also get hemoglobin level to detect if there is a any drop in hemoglobin levels. Further line of treatment will depend upon the test reports.
I hope it helps you.
Regard, Dr. Ravneet
