Is Terminating A Pregnancy Advised During Diabetes?
i have uncontroled diabetese and am going on 3rd month, in hospital and 1 doctor said to terminate pregnancy, other says not to. first one said could have birth defects. dont know what to do. i am here to have high risk doctors help with insulin etc to keep baby. dont know which doctor to listen to. i am single so it would be hard to have a baby with birth defects but dont want to terminate a healthy child.
Hello, I can understand your concern regarding your baby. Don't get confused by approaching too many doctors. If i were your doctor, i would recommend you to continue your pregnancy with careful and regular followup. Insulin is the only treatment in diabetes during pregnancy and it will wonderfully control your diabetes for sure after adjusting the dose. Birth defects are concerned, i would recommend you to regularly do follow up sonography with amniotic fluid examination and chorioic villus sampling to rule out any genetic defect. Baby will be prone to diabetes,it your sugar will not be controlled, so you must control your sugar lever by hook or crook. So i would recommend you to continue your pregnancy with careful followup.
