my son is 23 years old. weighs about 170lbs. 5'7 height; he had his blood sugar checked --non fasting --he said it was 97. please advise if he is diabetic.
alsohis hdl is 20/192 triclyceride/8.6tc/hdl ration; ldl 111---169 total
Hello, a fasting blood sugar measurement of 97mg% is within the normal range. A non-fasting one even more so. Unless your son is very athletic and muscular his body weight is high (which is also implied by his high triglyceride levels and low HDL). His triglycerides are high enough to suggest a healthy diet and exercise but not that high to suggest medication. His HDL could be increased by the consumption of foods like fish and olive oil and exercise. Is he a smoker (low HDL) ? If yes, he would do great good to his health if he quit. Kind Regards.
