Is The Tingling In Hands And Feet Is Due To The Prolonged Bed Rest?

42 year old female diagnosed with flu on Tuesday of this week. She is on her 8th dose of Tamiflu and has been in bed for the entire day. She is experiencing tingling in hands and feet. Fever is normal. Is this due to prolonged bed rest and lack of motion or should we be concerned about other issues. Presented about 30 minutes ago.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
Tingling because of the prolong rest is not the cause but because of poor posture this could happened, does not matter how long person taking rest if it is poor posture then this could happens in moment if the posture is okay then no matter how long person is taking rest that does not induce tingling, hope this could be your answer, have nice day.

Homeopath Dr. Preeti Chauhan's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic .

Paresthesia (tingling or pins and needles sensation in any body part ) due to prolonged bed rest is generally transient in nature and should improve once the posture of the patient is changed .It cannot be permanent .

Other common causes are diabetic neuropathy, polyneuropathy ,Vit B12 deficiency ,Multiple sclerosis etc .

Answering the following questions can help further diagnosis :

1.How long has the patient been experiencing the tingling .
2. Where does it start and extend to (location of exact body parts )
3.How long does it last and whether it is triggered or exacerbated by any other factors (position, temperature etc )
4.whether the patient has underlying any other systemic disease like diabetes.
5.Whether the patient ha shistory of taking alcohol or any other substance abuse

Thanks
