My seven year old daughter is 42lbs and had an ekg done the first only read sinus Arrhythmia the second read sinus Arrhythmia and left atrial enlargement she has a cardio apt on Monday but is there any way the test could have been preformed wrong for that to come up?
The presence of at least one ECG criteria for Left Atrial Enlargement is sensitive but not specific. Individual ECG P wave changes do not reliably both detect and predict anatomic atrial enlargement. Therefore an echocardiography must be done to confirm findings. EKG may show a false positive result occasionally.
