Hi Doctor , i am Sekhar, 25 years old and i would like to know is there any age limit for putting tooth braces and is it possible that i can have the brace without extracting my teeth, please reply.
There is no specific age limit for orthdontic treatment, but definately orthodontic treatment is more effective in young individuals.
If there is no space for correction of tooth then extraction of tooth is indicated.
In adults orthodontic treatment is possible in patients with good oral hygiene and good periodontal status.
I would suggest you to visit to an Orthodontist and get a checkup done, take an lateral cephalogram , impressions. Depending upon the diagnosis treatment will be decided.
Hello Sekhar
yes there is an ideal age for putting braces. It is considered as between 13 to 20 years. As the age passes ,bone in which we move teeth becomes more calcified and it becomes tough to move teeth in bone.Second it varies from case to case whether we have to remove your few teeth or not. If we need space to move teeth back then definately teeth removal is required.

Hello,
Thanks for your query.
First of all i would like to tell you that each and every case is different and in orthodontic treatment for proper treatment planning thorough clinical and radiographical evaluation prior to treatment needed.
Upper and lower arch teeth impressions are also needed.
If we talk about age,at the age of 25 you can go for orthodontic treatment.
But ideal age for orthodontic treatment is 13-18 years.
Take Care.

Orthodontic treatment can be done in your case considering your age.As such there is no age bar. but in young individuals, definately the treatment is faster due to faster tissue response.
Here i would suggest you to visit your orthodontist and get your teeth examined.
Here the most important concern is that if your gums and the supporting structures are healthy or not.
They are the ones which help in tooth root movement through bones.
Also x ray and cephalograms are required to assess exactly before confirming to start orthodontic treatment.
Hi,
Orthodontic treatment using braces can be ideally started at around 12 years. As age progresses the duration of orthodontic treatment increases as our jaw bone becomes harder and tooth movement takes longer time. Treatment without extracting teeth can be decided by an orthodontist after evaluating the space available in your jaw. If the space is not sufficient extraction of teeth would be definitely required.
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Orthodontic treatment is usually effective in young individuals, eventhough braces are applied in aged persons.
Depending on the periodontal status of your teeth, appliances can be put.
Orthodontic appliances are placed to correct malaligment of teeth.
For better result,THere should be adequate space in between your teeth.
Extraction of teeth is required if there is no space In between your teeth.
Please do get consultation with an orthodontist for further reference.
Hope this helps.
There is definitly no age limit for the orthodontic treatment but there are many other factors that has to be consider before treating orthodontic cases like periodontal status of the teeth , spacing between the teeth and etc.
Since you are 25 years of age you can go for orthodontic treatment consulting a orthodontist who can better examine your oral status and decide the treatment plan.
if there is little or no space available for the tooth movement , extraction of the premolars is considered to create space.
You may need to get an OPG radiograph and lateral cephalogram done for you which will show the exact position of the tooth, consult a dentist and get the treatment done .
i hope this helps ,
take care.

Hello and Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us.
There is no age limit for orthodontic work providing you have a deep enough pocket to pay for it.
There really isn't an age limit for braces. You are pretty much never too old to have them on. If you meant age minimum, then that depends on the person and the orthodontist. If there is crowding then there is extraction.
Hope this helps you.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Hello,
The ideal age for Orthodontic treatment is 12-25 years. It is around this age that the bone is pliable and moldable for tooth movement. Beyond this age bone takes time for changes to ocuur and the duration of treatment increases. Braces can be done without extraction of teeth provided your jaw has sufficient space to accomodate the readjusting teeth. Kindly do orthodontic treatment at the earliest for better results.
Hi,
I have read your problem, orthodontic treatment is possible in childrens as well as in adults also. But always careful about that it should be done by any orthodontist only.Adults orthodontics is possible in those patients , Who are having good oral hygiene. Patient cannot decide about extraction or non extraction, it depends upon treatment planning through OPG & Cephalogram x-rays through orthodontist only. For adults now a days so many types of braces are available like LINGUAL ORTHODONTICS (WHERE BRACES CAN BE GIVEN FROM THE BACK SIDE OF THE TEETH),Ceramic braces (tooth colored braces) and Invisalign etc.
All the best.
There is definatly no age limit for the orthodontic treatment but there are many other factors that has to be consider before treating orthodontic cases like oral hygiene of the patient, oral habits, periodontal status of the present teeth, number of present and impacted teeth etc.
So, i suggest that you should visit your dentist and take a opinion from him/ her. If you want non extraction orthodontic treatment, with the recent procedures like Demon system it can be possible but for that you have to shell out more from your pocket.
Hello
there is as such no age limit of putting braces
but definately the braces are most affected when
fixed in growimg age like 14 -16 for boys and 13
- 16for girla.but at your age also you can put braces
but may for some longer duration for effective treatment.
Extractions are done in order to provide space
for adjustment of teeth and also in cases where
milk teeth are retained.you dont have to worry
about extraction its a very simple procedure so don't
be scared.

There is an ideal age range / but there is no contra-indication for the procedure at any age.
Extraction is not a must but is dictated by the situation
Instead of guessing, you should get yourself examined by a dentist -
Any dentist can help but orthodontists are specialised in this..
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
There is usually no age limit to gettin braces. Regarding your query of whether teeth need to be extracted or not cannot be answered unless your Dentist examines your teeth alignment, crowding etc. Only he can advise in this regard after examining you.
Yes there is a certain age limit for braces. the best period for getting braces is ur groth spurts. though Adult orthodontics is a hot topic now a days but still it will not give u best results after certain age. yeah your age is 25 years, which is not the best age, but prognosis is always good in this age too... regarding extractions, if u have spaces between ur teeth then u may not require extraction but if there is not adequate spacing, u will require extraction, usually premolar extraction is carried out
