Is There Any Doctor Available To Analyse This Report?
Hi, My doughter is 2 years old. Her abdominal area was blown since about two weeks ago. In sonography a splenomegaly and hepatomegaly was reported. other blood tests were: BUN: 11 Hb : 11.5 Hct: 34 mcv: 79 HBs Ag: Negative sGOT:70 sGPT: 81 T Bili: 0.6 D Bili: 0.2 Thank you very much for your help
Hello and welcome to HCM, The presence of hepatomegaly and splenomegaly implies enlargement of liver and spleen respectively. Thus there is some disease process affecting the liver and spleen. However, the liver function tests- total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, SGOT and SGPT are nearly normal. There is slight increase in levels of SGOT and SGPT but this is only a marginal increase. Thus, hepatocellular damage is ruled. Other disorders like hematological disorders are suspected. You can go for peripheral blood smear examination to know the status of blood. Consult your physician with reports for further management. Hemoglobin, hematocrit levels and MCV are slightly reduced. This suggests mild microcytosis. BUN is within normal limits.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
