Hi Doctor, My Dad is suffering from hypoglycemia and one of the diabetes doctor has adviced to take Actrapid instead Human Mixtard, Should we continue to have Actrapid? IS there any harm in taking Human Mixtard again? Please note that my Dad has CKD Kidney problem, Bp as well.
Actrapid is rapid/short acting insulin it is given when your sugars are poorly controlled and when sugar levels are well controlled one can shift back to mixtard which is more convenient for patient to take but he shud have 3 meals which will contribute 75% of total daily calories and 25% of total calories shud come from 2-3 times healthy snacking in between if possible including early morning to avoid hypoglycemia
