sir, I am using alprax .5 for the last ten years. I tried to stop it but impossible. is there any major side effect.now my problem always I feel my eyes are heavy . is it because of this medicine. Apart from this I am using amlodipine (lama5) morning one and evening one and ecosprin 75 mg and Enace D10 half tab kindly advice
Hi Alprax contains a benzodiazepine called Alprazolam. These group of drugs causes dependence on long term use. That's one of the long term effect and you are already experiencing it. Other long term effects include confusion, drowsiness and others at the 0.5 mg doses. The heaviness of eyes of associated with drowsiness can be because of Alprax. If you are to stop Alprax, then the dose needs to be tapered over weeks. Do consult your physician if you intend to stop the drug. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a nice day.
