Hi Doctor, I have a copper IUD..it was inserted January 2000. im aware that i shouldve had it removed/replaced before my 10 yrs is up. I asked my husband if he still feels the IUD 'poking' during intercourse like he used to and he said he doesnt feel it anymore. Im shipping out for army basic training in Oct. and I honestly cannot afford to have my IUD replaced or removed right now but i have plans to have it replaced after all my army training which is in April 2012...what are the chances for me getting pregnant with an "expired" copper IUD? can I take birth control pills until I can have my IUD replaced in April next year?
