Is There Any Product That Can Help Get Rid Of Bad Cysts On The Face Filled With Pus And Blood ?

Ive tried many products & have been to two dermatologists in the passed 1 1 /2 yrs., im having very bad cysts on my face that get filled w/ pus & blood & I'm now taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim 800/160mg 2x daily. how long should I take this to see results? im tired of going to doctors & using all these products they suggest & nothing working. they say its due to stress & hormones, im 53. they are very large & painful. because I live on disability, a fixed monthly income, I can't afford expensive products. Is there any otc product you would recommend? thk u.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

You seem to be suffering from severe grade Acne.

Acne is disease of sebaceous glands and various pathogenetic factors are implicated:
-Overactive sebaceous glands,
-Propionibacterium acnes bacterium,
-Malassezia yeast,
-hormonal fluctuations,
-Abnormal Keratinization etc to name a few.

In my practice i start my patients on oral retinoids (Isotretinoin) if they present me similar to you. Oral retinoids are Sebostatic(decreases oil production), normalises keratinization, are anti-inflammatory and decreases proliferation/population of Propionibacterium acnes as well as yeast(which feeds on your oil) in hair follicles.

You should visit a dermatologist to get a prescription for oral anti-acne medications(Antibiotics and Retinoids).

Can continue with sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim along with for 2 weeks but it has serious side effects to its name like bone marrow suppression, severe drug reaction like SJS/TEN so cant be used for long.

Topical treatment is a valuable adjunct to any form of acne treatment. Dermatologists around the world prescribe topical gels/creams containing topical antibiotics like either clindamycin 1%/ benzoyl peroxide 2.5%/ Nadifloxacin.

take care.
