Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is There Chances Of Survival If Breathing Only 5 To 7 Times Per Minute?
After a CT Scan is negative, and a EEG is showing a little bit of activity, can a patient be declared dead or almost dead? She suffered a cardiac arrest at the hospital, it was less than a minute until the doctors bring her back, after three days she started to breathe by herself but just 5 to 7 per minute. The cardiologist said that she has no chances. I need a second opinion.
Hi welcome to hcm. Your doctor is correct.Respiratory rate will be 30-40 per minute in newborn and a bit of eeg activity with 5-7 respiratory rate is insignificant and there is almost nill chance of survival.sorry to say this.Thankyou
