Is Tramadol Sufficient For Chronic Neck Pain, Arthritis And Reduced Cervical Lordosis?

Hi, i have a Radiology Report that says i have: 'reduced cervical lordosis' , disc space narrowing at C5/6 with osteophytes (osteophytes also C4). Thoracic kyphosic is exaggerated . Osteophytes at L3 to L5.

I am 50 yo woman, active, but have lived with chronic neck pain for years. have tried chiro, physio, osteo, acupun and pain relief panadeine extra provides little relief. My GP says i have mild arthritis and will not prescribe anything stronger than Tramadol or muscle relaxants ie Valium when i think i need it. Can you please explain firstly what my Radiology report means and what treatment you would prescribe .....

Hi
I think that your GP is right that you’re having osteoarthritis of neck vertebra. Osteophytes and disc space narrowing are characteristic of osteoarthritis. This is mostly a disease of aging and our lifestyle.

Physiotherapy, hot water fomentation, local application of menthol or counter-irritant is helpful. If not better, one can try Paracetamol and/or Tramadol also. There are different other drugs like diacerein etc. available, but none of them are 100% proven.
Hope this will helpful.
