Is Vaccination For Chicken Pox Needed After Having Positive Result For Rubella IgG?
I have done test for rubella IGG and the result was positive so the doctor advised me not to have the rubella vaccination. Should I take vaccination for chicken pox as I am not affected with the disease. This is mainly as i am thinking to be pregnant please help
Hi, I M Dr.Kumarbhargav Consultant Pathologist I understood your problem Looking to your profile RubellaIgG positivity indicates you are immune to rubella due to previous exposure as even one exposure makes you life long immune, so rightly no need to take rubella vaccination. Similarly you should check your status against varicella (chicken pox) before proceeding further and also the vaccine is usually available in combination but monovalent forms also available.
Also important to note that you have to wait for 28 days following vaccination before conceiving (being pregnant) after vaccination. So keep in mind that also. Thanks for contacting health care magic. Take good care of yourself.
