Is X-ray Required If There Is Swelling In The Leg Due To A Hit?

Hi I am 46 years old , 75 kilos, and 1metre 55. Have no medical history . I have two children. Yesterday while running to answer the phone I stubbed my big toe on the ridge across the door. It was extremely painful for at least 15 mins and today I have woken to find it bruised and swollen. I can move it but not as much as the right toe but this might be because of the swelling. Do I need to have an x-ray ? Kerry Cooper

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

An X-ray is required to rule the possibilities of a fracture even though it is unlikely. If you experience pain analgesics like paracetamol can be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
