Itchy Abrasions On Legs And Arms. Blood Test Normal. Cause?
I have been getting bruises on my legs and sometimes my arms for a few years now. I am bruising even though I haven t bumped or banged into anything. I am also very itchy, mostly on my upper thighs. I have to be careful about scratching because I bruise from the scratching as well. When this happens the bruises look more like an abrasion (like a dark reddish colored hickey, sort of). My doctors all say my blood work is normal. What do you think is causing these problems?
Your problem seems to be that of frequent bruising of ski.
You should for sure see a physician or a dermatologist for proper blood work up. A detailed blood check up is required to rule out various important causes of the same.
Usually in young and middle aged people, it is not normal to develop recureent bruises.
However in people above 60, it is common to develop skin brusises with ant minor skin trauma or even itching. This is called senile purpura. It is a normal skin condition occuring due to thinning of the skin.
Hope it helps
