Itchy Bump On The Toe. Is It A Fungal Infection Or Bug Bite?
Daughter is 18, great health. Cheerleader and softball player. Noticed this morning a bump near the base of the toe next to her little toe, on the top side and in the middle of the toe. Very itchy, but not painful. Not clear like a blister . Very smooth with no pimple-like head . I ve given her Lotramin (jock itch!) cream. Besides a bug bite , the only idea I have is fungus-related. What could it be?

As per the description you have given, it is unlikely to be fungal infection as it is localized to a small area ,smooth and acute in onset ( you noticed it in morning).
The swelling may be because of a bug bite: itching and redness of the swelling would indicate towards bugbite. Tab.Levocetrizine 5 mg, once daily in evening for 3 days would help.
