Itchy Dark Patch Near Ankle. Applying Lotion. What Could Be This?

I have an itchy dark patch near my ankle thats been there for a few months and still itches severely sometimes. When it does I put a heap of lotion on it and massage it in really well that usually stops the itching unless I go to touch it or scratch it again. Today I was at my desk and my leg started itching in a different spot like something had just bit me I scratched and a few wmall bumps appeared I put on lotion and ot calmed down. This evening I scratched the itch there again and I see some dark spots now in same spots where it was itching.

hi,
thanks for consulting HCM.I can give to two differential diagnosis after seeing your history.
-Flea bites can be grouped in lines or clusters. If you are particularly sensitive to flea bites, they can lead to a condition called papular urticaria (where a number of itchy red lumps form). Bullae may also develop.Fleas from cats and dogs can often bite below the knee, commonly around the ankles. They may also affect the forearms if you have been stroking or holding your pet.
-Venous stasis causes pooling red blood cells to stain the skin of the ankles from the inside out, creating reddish or brown patches on the ankles,Venous stasis refers to the medical condition resulting when leg veins lose their ability to carry blood back up the legs toward the heart. Venous stasis can occur due to injury, surgery or poor circulation, and it can indicate the presence of life-threatening blood clots in the deep veins. Prompt medical attention is required to rule out deep vein thrombosis and to obtain medication or other treatment to alleviate venous stasis before it progresses to a chronic or ulcerative stage.
thank you.

Hi, thanks for your query.

You seem to have developed post inflammatory hyper pigmentation secondary to scratching of the itchy lesions.

Foremost thing to be done is stop scratching the lesions to break the scratch itch cycle. You may take oral anti histamines for itching daily for a few days.

You may apply a depigmenting cream like hydroquinone on the dark spots at night and a moderate steroid like momatosone furoate in the morning.

You may consult a dermatologist for exact diagnosis and treatment.

Hope this solves your query.
