Joint Pain, Swelling After Taking Bactrim. How To Reverse Side Effects?
I have severe joint pain and swelling from Bactrim DS. I was given for an infection, My DR. now has me on Mobic, and predisone. The swelling is in the hands, fingers and my knees. She thinks it affeted my joints and muscular system.
Is there anything she can give me to reverse the side effects of the bactrim. Please help!!
Well I feel your doctor has already given you the medications that should normally help you reverse the effects of the bactrim. Your symptoms do not reflect any known side effects of bactrim and if those symptoms are from bactrim then it might be an allergic reaction. Prednisone could have been able to reverse the swellings but it might be more helpful if your doctor placed you on antihistamine medication such as chlopherinamine. You also need to be patient with the intake of prednisone as relief might take some few more days. If no change after a few days, then it is best, you go see your doctor again so he might run some other tests again to rule out other possible causes rather than medication. You should normally stop bactrim to avoid persistance.
Hope this helps
