Large Lump Inside Mouth, Sore While Eating And Drinking, Painful. Taking Penicillin, No Result. Recommendations?
Hi, I have a large lump on the top left inside my mouth, it gets sore when I eat and drink water. I've been to the doctors and hospital they have supplied me with penicillin. It's not going away and it's a large lump it's sore when I speak as well and open my mouth. I've been taking a lot of tablets to relieve the pain. What could It be?
Any oral lesion not responding to treatment is a concern. If you are a smoker / alcoholic concern is much more. Get your blood sugar measured (fasting and PP), Ideally a bipsy should be done to know the pathology of the disease. Meantime give away addiction, start b comlex, avoid spicy food and consult an oral / ENT Surgeon
You seem to have already visited a doctor and they are treating you for infection with Penicillin. By saying 'a large lump on top left inside mouth' you could also be referring to tonsils which is in the throat. Any one sided swelling of tonsil, which is large, painful and makes opening the mouth difficult could be also due to a condition called Quinsy (look up for Quinsy photographs on the internet). If that is the case you need to go back to the doctor as usually it has to be managed with a small intervention.
