Left Tongue, Gums And Cheek Are Numb With Insomnia, Headache And Weight Gain. Have Heartblock And Migraine. Suggest?

I do not have health insurance, so am postponing making an appointment.

My problem is that for about four weeks now, the left side of my mouth has been numb. Left part of my tongue, left gums (upper and lower), left cheek.

I have also been experiencing insomnia, and headaches (I suffer from migraines, but these headaches are different). I have not had a headache now in about a week, but still have a tingling tongue. Oh, and for some reason I keep gaining weight over the last few weeks. I am generally very steady with my weight and do not fluctuate a lot.

These are all new things - the mouth thing is really driving me nutty. Any advise would be great!

(P.S. I am 34, female, healthy, petite, no kids - I do have AV Heartblock Type 2, and migraines. I do not have a pacemaker, and feel like those symptoms are the same since I have been diagnosed.)

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

I suspect you may have some nerve damage.
It may be due to dental infection which damage the nerve supplying tongue, gums and cheek.

Some other causes are stroke, compression of nerves by inflammatory edemas on the course of nerve.

If you are my patient, i would first do physical examination to rule out stroke.
Because it is an emergency condition.

Then i would refer you to Neurologist and Dentist for further management and follow up.

Hope this helps.
Please reply for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
