Legs Feeling Numb, Better After Taking Shower, Walking. Cause Of Numbness?

My two legs started feeling numb during the night (sleep). I thought it was maybe my leggings type of pj bottom that were too snug and might prevent circulation so I changed into baggy pj bottoms. However, my two legs still feel numb.... if felt better after a shower and walking around a bit but as soon as I sat down for breakfast or to write this text I can still feel it. ....but now it seems to be more in my left leg then both. What is the cause of that?

1. make sure there is only numbness and not tingling sensation also?
2. it could be from simpler cause like (pressure on the nerve resulting in numbness) or from disease like diabetes, lumbar disc degeneration,or connective tissue disorder, taking shower/walking may/might result in area getting warmer and relieving of symptoms.
3. any history of injury to head or back/addiciton?
4. preventive measurements prior to consultation with doctor:
. avoid sitting crossed legs, elevate legs at night while sleeping (put 2 pillows underneath your feet), massage your feet if numbness occurs, inspect your feet everyday for any injury, avoid tight fitting shoes.
