Light Bleeding, Ultrasound Shows A Yolk Sac And Foetal Pole With No Heartbeat. Miscarriage?
Hi I've had light bleeding, no pain. Had an abdominal and internal ultrasound on Tuesday, there is a yolk sac and foetal pole present, we were told it was 4mm in length, however no heartbeat. I was told by my doctor i was 10 weeks however I have been told by the sonographer and another doctor there's no way I'm 10 weeks and am more likely to be six or so. Next ultrasound is this Wednesday. Is it likely I'm miscarrying?
Hi, Firstly, you should be able to correlate your dates and the findings on sonogram if you have regular 28-30 day cycles. Please calculate from your last menstrual period. A repeat trans-vaginal sonogram should be able to locate the presence or absence of fetal heart pulsations. A serial titre of serum beta-hCG can give a hint of the prognosis; doubling values every 2-3 days indicate good progress of the pregnancy. Try to take as much rest as possible, avoid intercourse and stress of any form. Hope your query has been clarified. Take care.
