Loss Of Appetite, Fever And Phlegm Formation After Taking Medication Due To Cataract Surgery. Suggestions?

Dear Doctor
My mother had cataract lasek 2months ago. She was fine for the 1st week (eyedrops Zmar & Maxitrol). Though, 2nd week with 5days medication (Prednisolene, diamox & Slow k) + eyedrops (Spesadex compund & Predforte), she had loss of appetite, feverish & voice started hoarse & phlegm. She had changed the eye-drops & had more water since that week. Doctor said it maybe due to flu virus attack & gas reflux.

Though, till today, she still had hoarse voice (better voice in morning after wake-up), had no more "wind" inside her body, slightly better appetite.

Hi

Thanks for asking.

Loss of appetite,fever,cough with sputum most likely suggest an infection, and as the symptoms are not very acute ,it looks like a viral infection.

The fact that the ump toms are improving also suggest a possible rial etiology.

I do not think so the symptoms has any thing to do with the surgery or the medication after that.

If get worse, try to see a doctor for investigations.
