What Is The Treatment For Chronic Throat Inflammation?

I have a female relative, age 59, with a chronic throat inflammation (determined on examination) during the past two months, accompanied by noticeable weight loss. Could this be a sign of purge anorexia? She is a very tense, perfectionist sort of person, but with no known history of eating disorder. Emphasis on known.

Hello,

Many causes for chronic throat inflammation like allergy or post nasal discharge or chronic inflammatory conditions like aphthous ulcers or tonsilitis etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Get it done throat swab microscopy and culture sensitivity. Use tablet Amoxicillin and Clavulinic acid 625 mg for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
