Loss Of Balance, Dizziness On Turning Head, No Symptoms Of Nausea. Causes?

I am a 39 year old female. I exercise regularly & am not overweight . About a week ago, I realized my balance was off. I didn t fall but my head felt swimmy . It happens when I turn my head while standing up or even rolling over in bed. I do not have any nausea with it at all. I m not taking any medication consistently. what could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Kgww,

its called vertigo , Vertigo can be caused by problems in the brain or the inner ear.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common form of vertigo and is characterized by the sensation of motion initiated by sudden head movements or moving the head in a certain direction. This type of vertigo is rarely serious and can be treated.

Vertigo may also be caused by inflammation within the inner ear (labyrinthitis or vestibular neuritis), which is characterized by the sudden onset of vertigo and may be associated with hearing loss. The most common cause of labyrinthitis is a viral or bacterial inner ear infection.

and other much serious causes that i dont think they fit in the context your said :) visit your ENT if the symptoms persisted

please rate my answer if it helped
