General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. he can consult a colorectal surgeon to rule out the possibility of a fistula-in-ano. This an abnormal connection from the inside of your rectum/anus to the behind/buttocks. It can cause recurrence of abscesses in that area or unresponsiveness to antibiotics. Has your son also been cleared for elevated blood sugar. This might also explain the unresponsiveness to treatment as well as recurrence.
