I m a 41 year old, Caucasian female with no significant medical problems and I have not traveled internationally. I have been experiencing a low grade fever for the past month and a half that fluctuates over a 24 hour period. I graphed it over time and as long as I m lying down, my temperature is normal (at night or if relaxing for more than an hour) but then quickly increases when I m on my feet (e.g., goes from 96.6 to 99.8 within the first hour of the day). During the day it ranges from 99.5-100.5 (taken with a digital ear thermometer ) and does not return to normal until I lie down again for at least an hour. I take Aleve for back pain twice daily but antipyretics (neither Aleve nor Ibuprofen ) do not impact the fever (I ve tried taking it and not taking any for a few days). The only other symptom I ve experienced is some minor neck pain . I have not felt fatigued any more than normal. I work from home and was hoping to avoid going to the doctor because I don t want to get exposed to more viruses etc. since I haven t had a flu shot yet. I have been waiting to get one until I can go 48 hours without a fever but it hasn t happened in the past six weeks.
