I am 26 yrs old.I had lower back pain for last 10 years.Today i had my M.R.I done. The report says that THERE IS DISC DEHYDRATION AT L5-S1 LEVEL ASSOCIATED WITH MINIMAL RETROLISTHESIS OF L5 OVER S1 VERTEBRA WITH EVIDENCE OF ANNULAR DIFFUSE DISC BULGE AND SUPERIMPOSED MILD TO MODERATE POSTERO-CENTRAL DISC PROTUSION AT L5-S1 LEVEL INDENTING VENTRAL THECAL SAC AND IMPINGING BILATERAL EXITING L5 NERVE ROOT .What should i do for this.If there will be any adverse effect of pregnancy on this situation.
hi.
the problem you mentioned can be simply explained in a way that you are having a prolapse disc at L5-S1 which means that your vertebral bodies are in direct contact with each other resulting in pain and inflammation. Mild to moderate cases often respond to treatment like diclofenac sodium, vitamin B12 and physiotherapy but most cases either do not responds or reports with recurrence. these patient if also have symptoms like pain radiating to lower limbs and numbness of lower limbs are indicated for surgical correction by a procedure called laminectomy often performed under general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia and also have a good outcome.
your next concern about its effect on pregnancy is that it do not have any adverse effects directly on the pregnancy however the condition may get worse in pregnancy due to increased dietary requirements and weight bearing. alternatively the drug used for the problem may have adverse effects on the pregnancy

You are 26 years old and are suffering from retrilistheses with prolapsed disc with most likely spasm of the back muscles, which is causing the pain along with radiculopathy.
You need to rest, take muscle relaxants, hot fomentation along with short wave diathermy and IFT if possible, vit B12 supplements and pregabalin.
Once pain subsides try spinal flexion exercises along with daily walk, use lumbar belt to support the spine.
During pregnancy this problem may get aggravated due to further increase in lumbar curvature, but it may not be always so if you exercise and maintain the right posture. You need to careful while lifting heavy weights or any form of physical activity which causes pain.
