Lump Below The Ear Along Jawline, Hurts When Touched. On Cefalexin, Has Huskiness In Voice. Anything Else ?

i told my husband to take cefalexin 3x a day when noticed a lump below the ear along jaw line . it only hurts when touched. but he failed to take the medicine and the lump gone. now that he got colds and slightly husky voice the lump is visible again so he now takes the cefalexin . so worried that cefalexin the only antibiotic he had on his kit might worsen the cond. thanks to you Doc.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello ,
Cefalaxin is good antibiotic but yo must first get him examined by ENT specialist and get done Flexible fiberoptic naspharyngo-laryngoscopy done to see for the condition of the vocal cords .
As you said he has husky voice so the vocal cords (where the vibration occurs so that a person can speak)needs to be examined to see for proper movement.
If movement is decreased for one vocal cord then he needs to be given some steroid medication and further evaluation is also required.
You must also take antiinflammatory medicines also
