Lump On Jawline, Bleeding From Tooth After Crown Fixation. Pain Injections Taken In Jaw. Treatment Options?

I have a lump on my jawline. It seems like my dentist went overboard with the numbing shots before fitting a crown. The lump is where my dentist put one of the shots, also below the crown. After the dentist, my tooth was sore for the rest of the day. Not until night time when I was brushing my teeth did I notice my tooth. It was still bleeding and it looked like the crown was too tight, like pushing my gums down. What is the lump and what should I do?

Hi,
Thank you for the query.
According to the history given , its suggests of gingival irritation or formation of pocket or infection in the teeth. The bleeding may be provoked because of the overextension of the margins of the crown into the gum or irregular margins as well.
I would advise you to go for through cleaning of the area first and this should be followed by replacement of crown if still you feel the fit is not proper after the swelling has come down to normal .See your dentist for the clinical examination and get it treated accordingly.
Hope this information helps you.

Hi,
if your lump present on your jaw line is because of numbing shot it is resolve in 8-10days.and the lump present below the crown and bleeding can be because of infection or trauma due to crown if crown is not properly fitted or margins of the crown is sharp.some times infection occurs because of food loadgment in the space present between crown margins and gingiva.so you maintain oral hygiene by warm saline mouth rince or chlorhexidiene oral rince.remove if there is food loadgement.if you not feel relief go for xray.and if infection present in tooth then advice to remove your crown and go for rct procedure.it can be clear only after clinical and radiographical examination.
take care

The painful lump on the gums can either be because of the gum problem in that area or it is because of the infection in the tooth. If the tooth is also painful then it is because of the infection in the tooth and for that after making the correct diagnosis the root canal treatment is done but if root canal is already done then reroot canal treatment is recommended. But if the gums are infected which is mainly because of the gap between the crown and the gums then that area is cleaned.

dear friend.
thanks for sharing your concern.

According to the history given , it could be gingival irritation or formation of pocket or sometimes infection in the teeth too.

In many cases the bleeding may be due to overextension of the margins of the crown into the gum. Sometimes there could be sharp margins too. Check for them too.

I would advise you to go for oral prophylaxis first. and this should be followed by replacement of crown. Check for occlusal fittings too. With an articulating paper.

if still, your problem persists then see your dentist for the clinical examination for any underline cause.

Hope this helps you.

thanks

hello and welcome,

the lump following crown fixation may be due to several reasons-

gingivitis

irregular crown fixing

overextended crown cutting.i would suggest you to get deep scaling done.

mild swelling usually associated with crown placement.

also get the high points of crown checked and get it corrected.

visit your dentist for further treatment procedures.

regards
