Lump Removed From Arm Pit, Diagnosed MRSA. Hard Shell Around Abscess, Receiving IV Antibiotic Treatment. Biopsy Result Awaited
I just had a lump removed from from my right arm pit and was diagnosed with MRSA. I had most previously been treating for hammer toe with considerable swelling and fluid in the joint. The bump under my arm was not on the surface but deeper under the skin. The Dr claimed after surgery that I had a hard shell around the abcess. I am recving iv antibiotic treatments for the next nine days. what should i be asking my dr tomorrow. biopsy results of the hard tissue surrounding lump has not yet been recieved
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Abscess wall in a lymph node can get calcified if left untreated. You are being treated rightly with IV antibiotics as it was a deep abscess. I suggest you wait for the biopsy results for further decisions. Hard lymph nodes can be due to calcification or also could be due to malignancy. The treatment options will depend on the biopsy results. Thanks.
