Hello and welcome to HCM,
I will try to explain you the MRI findings in simple words.
The
spinal cord is divided into different areas depending on the site.
Lumbar spine is the term referred to the spine in the lower back region.
The vertebrae are separated from each other by a
cartilage called
intervertebral disc.
this inter vertebral disc provides lubrication during movement of the spine. These discs also act as
shock absorbers.
From the spinal cord, a pair of nerves emanates at each level.
Spondylosis is a degenerative condition of the spine.
It is age related phenomenon.
Spondylosis of the spinal cord causes bulging of the inter vertebral disc. Bulging of the disc causes pressure on the nerves.
This compression on the nerves can lead to symptoms of weakness and altered sensations in the area supplied by that particular nerve.
Besides nerves, a space enclosed by the vertebral body called lateral recess is also being compromised by this bulge.
You need to visit an orthopedician for further management.
Initially, conservative management is done comprising of
bed rest.
If the symptoms do not disappear by rest alone, surgery may be required.
I hope you are satisfied by my answer.
Kindly, leave a feed back if my answer is of help to you.
