MRI Shows Grade 3 MCL Sprain, Minor Ligament Sprain, No Meniscal Tear. Explain?
i am just reading my MRI results - the IMPRESSION states 1. Grad3e 2 proximal MCL sprain and bone contusion of the posterior lateral femoral condyle suggests a flexion twisting/valg7us mechanism of injury 2. minor medial patellofemoral ligament sprain 3. myxoid change within the posterior horn and body of the nmedial meniscus , no meniscal tear or chondral injury can you explain that in plain english please - thanks
MRI grade 3 MCL tear indicates severe injury, you may need detail clinical evaluation. MCL tear will lead to knee instability Rest the part and avoid any movements that produce pain. Apply ice or a cold pack to the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 times a day for several days. Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel. Till time you can take anti-inflammatory and antibiotic if infection is suspected.
Partial tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Severe MCL tear may near surgical intervention.
