hi,im a 28 year old mother of 3 and have recently been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy.my cardiologist has written that my echo showed severe lv impairment with moderate lv dilatation.EF is around 25%,there is trivial mr.her ecg confirmed lbbb and a rate of 98 bpm....please could you tell me what this means thankyou
Dilated cardiomyopathy is a disease of cardiac musculature. In this muscles of heart become weak and could not able to do their pumping action properly. So the amount of blood coming out of the heart is decreased. This termed as Ejection Fraction (EF). normal EF is above 60-65%. So you are having low EF. and heart valves are attached to the muscle. Once the muscles are weaken and dilated valves also loosen and their diameter increases so back flow and regurgitation happens.
