Metal Test In Mouth, Headache, Root Canal Done

My boyfriend has been complaining about a metal taste in his mouth . He said he gets a very bad headache in his temple and then gets a metal taste in his mouth. What can cause this? There is a history of heart conditions in his family. About 2 months ago he did have an infected tooth that he had to get a root canal done.

hello and welcome to HCM forum,
The information provided by you is not complete and ,i cannot actually rule out the diagnosis, but i can assure you that it is not at all related to the his medical history.
what i can say is that the filling or the metal crown placed after the root canal treatment might be high at certain points, which is causing pain in the temple region and may even give a metallic taste .
i would like to request you to visit the dentist who performed his root canal treatment, and get the tooth re-checked to make sure everything is in place.
i wish you good health.
take care.

hi sibedo,
i read your problem, information you provided is not sufficient.metal taste may be due to any metal filling or crown in his mouth, severe periodontitis, infection in that root canal treated tooth,etc....
and this pain may be high points of filling/crown,infection etc.
i will suggest you please go to an endodontics and go for whole mouth examination, please follow all the given instructions and take a proper treatment.
nothing to get worried
take care

Hi,

The reason for headache in temple region may be because of the RCT, which may be faulty.
kINDLY visit dentist and get an IOPa means x-ray of that tooth done.

Metallic taste again may be of many reason like letallic restoration like silver amalgem or he is taking some medicine having tinidazole salt which give metallic taste in the oral cavity.

I suggest visit your dentist and get your check up done.

Regards,

Dr. Vishal Jain.

hi there can be a number of reasons for this, severe periodontitis , or calculus formation and gingivitis can cause this as well. also the root canal sealing material can be the cause of this Metallica taste. for proper treatment you should go for a consultation with oral pathologist .. regards
