Migraine, Difficulty Sleeping Due To Pain. No Help From Any Medication. Any Treatment?

Dear Doctor,
I'm writing on behalf of one of my female friend, who is suffering from migraine for past several years now. She has tried several medication but nothing works for permanency. Due to pain she can't even sleep. She is looking for a permanent cure, and resides in Bangalore. She would like to know if there is a possibility for the treatment which is permanent?

Hello
Welcome to HCM

Migraine is a common problem in females and it is really disturbing. For better treatment she should consult a good doctor. There are a lot of medicines that can be used in migraine for treatment and also for prevention of future symptoms. Although there is not curative treatment but she can control her migraine symptoms effectively with drugs. Medicines like Sodium Valproate, amitryptilline etc are commonly used in treatment. Other medicines like Propranolol can be used to prevent future episodes, but treatment of longer periods of time is needed to get best results. Please reassure her and consult a good doctor.

Thanks
