Molar Pain, Gum Sensitivity, Bad Taste In Mouth. Broken Wisdom Tooth. Safe To Have Deep Cleaning?
I went to Dentist because I was experiencing upper right molar pain, gum sensitivity & bad taste in my mouth from this area. I was told I had a broken wisdom tooth & needed to have it and 2 other wisdom teeth extracted. She also said I needed to schedule a deep cleaning. She referred me to an oral surgeon for removal of wisdom teeth. I'm scheduled for a scaling & root planning with dentist prior to oral surgeon consult. Is it safe to have this deep cleaning with my broken wisdom tooth issues? I feel I have an infection. Thanks for your time.
hello when a wisdom tooth ,or for that sake any tooth,is broken...there is a risk that the pulp of that tooth is exposed...and exposed pulp causes pain and sensitivity and also due to infection the adjacent gum area is swelled....so what i would suggest is that have an antibiotic cover for 3 days and then get the tooth extracted
According to your clinical symptoms i suspect that you have developed severe abscess in your wisdom tooth, bad taste is due to the abscess drained in the mouth, I would suggest you to get the tooth removed consulting to an Oral Surgeon. Meanwhile you can go for deep scaling as described by your Dentist. Take a course of antibiotics and analgesics. Maintain a good oral hygiene. Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
You have infection on your right upper wisdom tooth..and as its very back portion of the mouth so the brush can't reach properly and food wiill be lodged over there and will cause more infection...so scaling was needed for you...
You are absolutely safe after undergoing scaling procedure...
Now you can take warm saline rinses 4-5 times/day to keep that area clean...
hello dear friend your doctor is right. cleaning and root planing will help you control infection in your gums. you also have to take antibiotics and pain killers with that. ... exracting a broken wisdom tooth is a wise advice. i think you can trust your doctor.. hope to see you in best of your health and spirits thank you
