Mole On Back Of Left Leg. What Could This Be? Can It Be Melanoma?
Just noticed a large (1/2 inch) mole on the back of my left leg. I don t think it was even there before! It is purple colored - kind of like a blood blister color, but it is smooth and flat with a slight raised center. What could this be? I am scared it might be melanoma. It came up so fast! I am female, 49 years old.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Appearance of a pigmented lesion over short period of time and that too extremities in elderly age group raises the suspicion of melanoma. You need to consult your doctor for clinical examination. A biopsy of the lesion needs to be done to confirm or rule out malignancy. Consultation with a doctor should not be delayed since it can lead to spread of the tumor to distant sites.
